LT1 4th Gen VS L98 3rd Gen
LT1's run high 13's to low 14's and L98's low to mid 14's, correct? So really not that much difference. Where is the power range for both? Seeing that TPI cars run out at 4500, I imagine on the highway the LT1 is king.
Just looking for an in depth comparison as far as performance. Not only straight line but cornering/handling as well. I'm just getting worried, with all the LT1's at school, that even a bolt on L98 won't be enough.
NOTE: Let's stick to manual trannys in both

1/8th or stop light to stop light. A strong running L98 is gonna eat an LT1. But in the 1/4 or high way racing, the L98s low end torque advantage is useless and youll get spanked by an LT1

LT1's have the factory rev limiter set to 5750 and they pull all the way there. I had mine set to 6300.
4.10 gears in a 6 speed LT1 with good traction will be very hard to beat, off the line and from a roll.
If you plan on doing a 6 speed L98, I'd recommend 3.73 gears, maybe even 4.10's.

Get an LS1, problem solved
Seriously though, you do have some advantages to keep in mind. Weight is one, the 4th gens weigh more than the 3rds. My old 92 RS kept up with an LT1, either because of the weight or the guy didn't know how to drive an automatic
Just don't let 'em bully you

As far as handling goes the rear suspention is essentially the same. So the only difference is in the front. Stock verses stock with the same type and size tires, I think it would come down to the driver.

*sniffs*... i smell
my mom's corolla eats LS1's... lol
i dont think an RS can touch an LT1, unless you have a pretty whack driver in the LT1 or you have another, more powerful, engine in the RS. for christ sakes, honestly, a 92 RS can't even touch my mom's corolla (i proved it to my friend... it's stick and has a little toy monkey on the back window lol)

Never lost to an LT1 below 120mph anywhere. I ran one on top once and he slowly pulled on me from 125ish to 140ish and I let up. But I Dominated him from 0-120! (off-road ofcourse..)
The TPI's low end torque is brutal!! I'm telling you, the advertised power gap isn't correct... You just have to help a TPI breathe a little on top is all. And traction is a bigger issue with Tuned Ports...than LT1's.
I ran my buddy's" LS1" TA from a dead stop to 125ish and I beat him from 0-65ish by amost a car. Then he started ganing and by 125 he had me by 1 1/2 cars...Before I changed to may 2500stall convertor.
Most people didn't and still don't know how to properly set up and mod L98's, and everyone else gets the WRONG impression.

Must be case of terrible drivers or somethin. This guy let me drive his bone stock (stock down to the annoying CAGS) 99 SS. Some chap in a 91-92 Z28 (350 TPI) pulled up next to us, starting reving etc. For maybe half a second he was there with me, then near the end of first gear when I was reaching 55 MPH he was already about car behind me. Then of course, the monster of a EEEEERRRRKKKK!!!!! into second and it wasn't even funny anymore. The 91-92 was floored the whole time
