LG4 350 HO Upgrade.... Is an intank fuel pump the only way???

Hey guys, GMPP's 350 Ho conversion kit states that it comes with a high volume in-tank fuel pump to meet HO fuel demands. My question is can I find a pump that mount to the block at the standard location? Or at least an "in-line" fuel pump? I hate the in-tanks. When they go, what a b*tch to work on. I have seen it too many times and I want to avoid a later problem now. Does anyone know how much pressure these motors require? I am sure that since its still carbed its no where near the 45+ PSI for TPI and such. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks Guys

Happy Thanksgiving

I honestly do not see why you could not use an inline pump for a carburated 350H.O. You could also use an aftermarket mechanical cam lobe driven fuel pump I would think. The fuel pressure from a carburator is nothing compared PFI and the Vortech popet valve type of port enjection.

Now if you are planning to une NO2 I would go with the electric in line pump as a Mecanical pump delivers an unevan fuel flow and a large shot could cause a loss of compression in you engine .

I do agree, in tank pumps suck as far as R&R is concearned, but with your aplication as far as you described it, you should be fine with a conventional pump.

Good luck,
Erik

Thanks man. I Thought that I would be alright to run a mechanical pump. I had planned on adding a 50-100 shot on NOS just for sun as the final addition to the setup, once it is complete. But I may not. The motor I will have will be stock from the way it comes from GM, save for headers, some exhaust mods, better intake manifold, and maybe some cosmetics (pullies and chrome mounts). But thanks for all the input. I appreciate it
