whats the rpm power band of the eng.? usually 383 arent high winders. all those intakes are high rpm intakes. what cam are you using and what stall(or stick?) what rear end ratio? Id be willing to bet that an rpm airgap would be best. (unless your building a crazy setup. which your choice of afr 195's isnt. but we cant sugg. an intake w/o the rest of the setup.

Well I`m hoping for a 7000rpm redline atleast 6000. I plan on useing a T-5 right now (I know a T-5 won`t last) But I plan on a T-56 or a ZF6 spd no auto`s for me I want about 400hp or more. I`m thinking a 4:11 posi in a 12 bolt. The cam I don`t know some thing with over .500" lift and I`m going to use solid roller cam and lifters with 1.6 rockers I e-mailed AFR they said go with the 195`s if I want to spin the engine over 6500RPM and I compared AFR 195`s to Dart`s 220`s and the 195`s flow as good as the 220`s did I almost forgot I`m useing a 750 or 850 Holley

well, then you should go w/ a much bigger cam than just over .500. my cam has .501/.510 and is a solid flat tappet cam. w/the same dur. cam but w/roller lifters you can get around .530 or so lift. but for your larger eng, Id go w/ around 242 or 246 duration and try for high .500 instead of low .500's. fyi, my eng. combo idles at 650 rpm w/no prob. and gets 13 mpg. BEFORE I hooked up my lockup torque conv.. so I see no reason for you to use a cam my size or smaller. I'll bet the 750 shoould be fine. Id get a HP holley though or demon, cause your gonna need to adj. it to get it to idle real good and not have any bogs or anything. w/a cam that size and being 383 w/those heads Im guessing more like 500 HP. my eng. is making around 400-420HP. def. get hooker supercomp headers too.

oh yeah, w/ this combo, Id go w/the victor JR. I dont know anything about the AFR intake. they would know if its a good match for your heads/cam package.

oh yeah, Id also guesstemate high 11's if you can get it to hookup at all. it will be tough though. ET streets on 15x8" rim should take care of you though. (can you say, rear end goes boom?)

Look at the Performer RPM intake. RPM band is from 1500-6500 which is right where you want to be, and you'd still have all the low end you get from a good dual plane manifold and a torquey 383.

stay away from the performer rpm at your level, matter of fact, stay away from dual plane intake. For the kind of rpms you are talking about just about any single plane would do. I'm would go with the weiand Team G, I got one on the BB, runs good, no troulbes what so ever and has good maners. For you carb I'd stay around 750 cfm (I'm assuming you'll be driving it on the street). If you have access to Engine dyno 2000, you could run carb comparisons and find out if bigger would be better. If you haven't pick up a carb brand, I highly recommend any of the Demon's carb. Really nice piece and runs great.
