insurance Q
Do you have to have insurance to keep a car on the street? Like, say you don't drive the car at all, so you take the car off insurance, can you keep it parked in front of your house or would it have to be in my driveway. Someone told me if I kept the registration up to date I would be okay.
Not exactly 3rd gen specific but the lounge has too much crap in it.
Thnx

Be careful!!!
From past experience if you allow you insurance to lapse because you are not driving the car you cannot keep the vehicle tags and registration. You will have to turn in the tags and when you do get insurance again you will have to pay for tags and registration over again. I eneded up spending about $300 in fines and bs for one day lapse in coverage. Check with you local DMV, it may be different in your state.
if you had no insrance and left your car on the street and someone ran into it i wonder if you would be covered? I would prefer to leave my car on my driveway/makeshift shed on the lawn just for peace of mind.
If you have no insurance at all and someone did something to it and could not pay for whatever reason, you are SOL. I know of someone who moved it from his driveway to the street and backed into a driver. He was at fault and given a ticket. He had no insurance and was at fault. Guess who got sued for the money and had his wages garnished.
