my engine when in gear idles around 750 rpm. does that seem high to you guys? also, when i put it in gear it jerks rather hard.
my dad says that his car idles around 500 and that 750 seems high. it idles around 1k rpm when in neutral or park. what can i do to fix this? thanks!

 

Mine idles around 600. Your car is carb right? I don't know much about them but maybe trying to adjust it a little? Also, check for any vaccum leaks.

nah i got a cfi intake. everything on the car is completely stock... EVERYTHING!

 

mine is the opposite i idle at 500 and it occasionally stalls at lights. Hey maybe if we drive our cars at each other really really fast when we crash well get some splended mix of the two cars. I mean im no physics major but it seems like a damn good idea if i do say my self....but then wed only have 1 car.....hmm I CALL FIRST WEEKEND WITH IT. heh dibs

 

my Irocz Idles right about 600RPMs & it seems like its wants to die. Now when its sitting in park it Idles right about 1000 with my foot off the brake. Thats Odd.

i have the exact same problem as you do. i own an 83 z28 carburated and it idles at around 1000 in park and neutral and 600 in gear and it jolts when i put it in gear. i think the jolt is caused by the increase in rpms. it seams that you have the same problems as i do zzblackzz like with the rust and stuff. it weird tho that you have the idleing problem even with the different engine than mine.

 

But I have a 87 Irocz with a TPI 350.
