Hypertech fan switch

I bought hypertech fan switch for my car and it isn't turning the fan on any early than it used to. I know if I ground the wire going to the switch the fan will come on, so I would think that would mean the switch isn't working? would having the stock chip in the car effect this?
thanks

You need to have the computer tell the fan to come on. That is why they recommend getting the Thermomaster chip, the fan switch, and the 160° thermostat together.

The whole package cost me about $240.

mine comes on at 210* and stays on until 185* - I believe it it a JET fan switch - I have the original chip in the car

Re: Hypertech fan switch

A TPI car has two or three ways of turning the electric fans on. One way is throught the Prom, the second with with the A/C or defrost (if aplicable), and the third is if there is a CTS located in the pass side head, these aftermarket kits only work on the cars equiped with the CTS in the pass side head. And only then would it comand the primary fan.

I just go through the prom and do it....Im lazy

Take care,

Erik

Re: Hypertech fan switch

or if you get mad at it you can just wire the fan directly to a switch and turn it on your self

Which will work well untill you forget to turn the fan on one hot day in traffic and overheat your small block.
