Angry how to overcome? (kinda long)

ok my transmission is slowing my car down and it's pissing me off. I don't have tons of money so does anyone have a suggestion for a fairly cheap fix? I have an auto 91 z28, and it shifts really high. In first gear, if I have it floored, it will shift at 6500. I haven't tested the other gears because 2-4(od) will go to at LEAST 7000. I didn't really care to take it any higher, so I have to let off the gas a little so it will shift into 3rd. The problem is, if I floor the gas again it will downshift back into 2nd. I can avoid this by easing back into the gas, and I won't shift back into second. However, no matter my technique, if I floor the gas in od, it always shifts back into 3rd (which, in a way, I kind of expect, though.) As you can imagine, my car doesn't accelerate very well once over 5500. Getting an open element air cleaner helped the car march through the high rpms considerably faster, but i'd rather not deal with anything much over 5500 at all anyway. So is there anything relatively cheap I can do to make it shift at a lower rpm and stop downshifting so ridiculously? I'm sure it's killing my transmission when suddenly it downshifts and I'm going 7000 again. PLEASE help.

Well, I don't know what to tell you about most of your problem, but I do know about the WOT in OD. For some reason, all 700r4 trannys (as far as I know) will not allow wide open throttle in OD. My car does it to me too. There's a kit you can buy to fix it, but I'm not sure where. Do a search on the board and you may be able to find it.

You say your tranny is slowing down... have you checked the fluid? Does it have oil in it? Transgo shift kit will solve your gear shifting problem... should also make it **** harder and faster. It includes a new servo and I think a new valve body but I could be wrong. Some other things like springs you will need.... I've never purcahsed one before although I do have a new 700r4 as of today .

Sounds like you have a broken govonor spring. This controls your wot shift points. Not a big deal.A good local shop should set you straight.Have thm set it up so wot shifts happen at 5000rpm.This way you can hold the shifts manualy to about 5300 right were your motor will fall ontop of your torque peak.Have them also install a good shift kit.(ie.transgo)If funds permit also install a 2400 stall converter.Good luck
