what kinda #s did the L98s put down in stock form. from what i hear they were TQ monsters.

them 90=92 motors were some sweet lil motors i dont care what people say.

Lots of useable torque.

 

even the 305s had good torque.

in short races they had enough advantage to be able to take the lt1s...least mine did. but by 1/4 they were quickly running out of steam.

 

My buddy let me drive his fully loaded 88 GTA that he has with a L98 and t-tops (I guess that was a dealer option only) and that thing MOVES! It would hang with my LT1, it would not win but for a stock car it was FUN Only problem is that it needs some work and has a lot of polly mounts and the car about shook itself to death at 100mph LOL

I know of a few L98 cars with gears, 6-speeds, and full bolt-ons that run a 13.9 and there is a lot of room for weight reduction in third gens. Just pull off the stock hood and you will see what I mean LOL.

 

I have an '89 GTA with the L-98 and t-tops. I believe if I'm not mistaken '89 was the last year you could order the t-tops with the 350 engine combo.

I agree with the above comments about the wicked torque these engines have.

 

I hate my TBI 305. luckaly i just bought a 350 with some Vortec heads and roller everything for 500bux. i was stoked about that deal. the heads are brand new too still in the bag! cant wait to go cruise in this thing. its a 92 so its the other bird body style witch not too many people like. but i like it alot so woo woo.

 

good old torque, they might not have alot of hp but they sure due kill tires for the first couple of feet.
