Fuel pump/pressure problem
Fuel pump/pressure problem
Ok, I've got an '88 camaro that was originally a 305 tbi car. It now has a carbureted 350 in it. As soon as I turn the key and start the car, the fuel pressure jumps up to 6-7 lbs. After about 10 min of running the car, the fuel pressure will gradually drop down to 1-2 lbs, or sometimes zero. Is my fuel pump going bad?
If this is a recent development, then it's probably just worn out.
If it's been doing this since the carb was put in the car, I'd say the pump isn't staying on like it should. If this is the case, you need to connect the gray wire in the pump harness to ignition power. This will keep the pump on whenever the key is on.
I think it's probably just worn out though....if the pump was not staying on then the car wouldn't run for 10 minutes....it'd be more like 1.

Are you running any type of FPR?..The tbi should be running more pressure than that..I think the fuel pump is bowing out...most likley from pumping to much pressure without a return...I run a Malory 3 port on my engine...never a problem,,,so far...
