Fan problems
When using the paper clip trick to do diagnoses, should both fans come on or just the drivers side? I am having a problem with my 87 GTA heating up when setting for a while. I was setting the IAC the other day and when I looked, only the one fan was running. I checked the fan, it works when power is supplied to it. I checked the voltage of the plug-in and it was only .01.
I am thinking of wiring it up to a toggle switch or straight to the drivers side so they both come on together. Which one comes on first?
Thanks

I just did this mod to my car yesterday. Ive got a 92 Z28 so our relay wire colors may be different, but here goes. I took the A/C out of my car so my aux. fan (pass. side)was not comming on at all and I would overheat in traffic. So I tied the grounds together for both the primary fan realy and aux. fan relay. Mine were located on the firewall on the drivers side. I have three relays there the one on the far left (drivers perspective) is the primary fan relay and your looking for a green wire with a white trace. The middle relay is the Fuel pump relay and the far right relay is the aux. fan relay and you looking for a gray wire. All you have to do is tie the 2 wires together (Green and gray) and the fans will both come on when you car gets up to temp. Thats what I did and it works flawlessly. I even traced the wires back into the wireing harness so I could "hide" the splice. Unless you pull the wireing harness apart you'd never know what I did. Hope that helps.

have you tried replacing the fan relay switch? that solved my problem of my fan not turning its easy to hook up and its only a 10 dollar part. that switch is notorious for going bad in camaros & firebirds.
