Dumb question?
Right now my car is currently sitting at a mechanic shop about a mile and half away nothing big. The radiator is shot there's a big leak in it. If I need to get my car home would I be able to fill my radiator with water and drive it the mile without doing any damage to the engine or anything else?

Yah, I've done it before, but make sure you take along plenty of extra water. When you fill it up again, throw in some Redline Water Wetter, or some Stop Overheating. That stuff seriously works.

My suggestion, pull it out of the mechanics shop. Pull into a neighboring business. Get a radiator, bring all the tools needed, and change it right there. It took me an hour to do it. It was the first time I had ever tried anything with cars any bigger than doing a cd player install.
I ran mine for a week with a leaky rad. I was waiting for the 3 core to come in at napa. I would just check it before I left watch the gauge and it was fine until the thermostat kicked in. Once that happened it would need to be stopped and filled soon
If it is truly only a mile and a half away, you shouldn't even worry about it. Fill the rad full, Start it up let it idle for thirty seconds, and then baby it back to your house. Even if your rad was completely dry when you enter you drive way ( which would be a major leak) you were only going a mile and a half, and your engine temps should not even be at noraml yet. Of course keep an eye on the temp gauge and shut it down if you have to, but you should be O.K.
