distributor smokes on start

when i start the car a pretty substantial amount of smoke billows from the distributor...now granted it's not actually the distributor smoking, but what's under it that could be smoking? it's always done this since i bought the car last august, but i was just wondering....it runs fine...just wondering what would cause this.....my rear main seal leaks (thats the guess at least, i leave oil puddles under the rear of the engine) is some oil getting on something as it drips and smoking as i start the car? it's white smoke.....

Yea a friend had a rear intake gasket go bad on a sbf and it leaked a bunch of oil. We thought it was the rear main seal, but turned out to be that. His didnt smoke though. sbcs dont have that gasket aside from rtv sealant, but that could get messed up I reckon.
