Post Distributer shot?

YEah my car has a **** of a miss and when I put the timing light on it there are about 5 flashes then a pause then 5 then a pause. It does this on all the wires so does this mean my distributer is shot or could it just be the coil. Because all I can think of is the coil not generating enough power so it fires fine 5 times then there isn't enough power to fire again.

the magnetic pickup in the distributor could be bad, you could have a bad distributor cap (contacts are loose), loose plug wires, wires that have internal damage, don't be afraid to tap on the distributor cap, and move the wires a little, to see if makes a difference, its not gonna kill you if you get a little shock from your ignition system, but it WILL wake you up i got bit by an accel super coil once, my hand kinda tingled for about 3 hours

Usually when a coil dies, it's dead. You might consider the ignition module if it's an HEI. You can have your coil and module tested at Autozone.
