Discs on Drum 10-bolt

Well the search for the 9-bolt isn't going too well. I'm going to wait to find one locally to avoid shipping charges ($200+).

The LT1 brakes are coming soon and next weekend is the 6-speed install so I was going to put them on there at the same time. I've got drums now, will it be a simple swap or what? Is there some kind of tech article/write-up on this? I don't want to buy any additional parts because this will only be temporarily. Thanks

why bother with rear discs until you've got the new rear?

And honestly, don't loose sleep over rear disc. While it IS better, so much of your car is stopped by the front wheels that the rear brakes may as well be taken off. (yes, i've driven this way before)

Think about it, as you slam on brakes, which way does your car lean? Forward, which takes weight off the back wheels and prevents them from doing anything really significant.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're worthless, but I do agree that you should wait. If you KNOW you're going to be changing rears soon anyway, why do the brake swap twice? There's no sense making them work on the 10-bolt and then having to go back and make them work again on the 9-bolt. And we both know you'll be changing rears because those 2.73's are gonna be disgusting with the 6-speed. I should know.

if you do switch, dont forget the brake balancer
in a front disc, rear drum car its a 70/30 bias towards the front
swapping in discs wouldnt help too much w/o a new balancer, or a used one of a 4disc fbody
