Question Disc Brakes

I am currently looking to upgrade my front brakes to discs and was wondering about the master cylinder, I know I need to get one to accomodate the discs, but do you know if it has to be set up for disc front-drum rear or can it just be a disc master cylinder? Thanks

You'll need one that matches your system, like disk/drum, or disk/disk. The drum brake masters have a check valve to keep the shoes out to the drum, the disk brakes don't. You can also use a slide hammer to pull the valve out of your existing master, but they usually don't have enough volume for the disk calipers.

I thought the check valve (also called residual pressure valve) was in the distribution block (or proportioning block) not the Master cylinder.
