Post A rear drum to disc brake question.

I unfortunately have rear drum brakes, and was looking to do a swap to discs. I had a question. I can get a rear from a Z that is 2.73 gears, but I want to know if I can put in my 3.42's, keep the posi from the Z(if it had posi, if it didnt order one from SLP) and convert the freaking sucky rear brakes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would also like to see this question answered...I'm pretty sure MustangEater did a rear disc conversion, but I dunno how he did it. But the rear drums are pretty bad, why they (GM) didn't put discs on all 4 is beyond me...

its a pretty much plug and play with the rear end, everything bolts on no problem, except e-brake cables. You need e-brake cables of a 4-wheel disc brake car.

I paid $383 shipped for complete rear with disc brakes, LSD, and 3.42s. $408, when I added the 1 piece driveshaft.

Cool

The rear will work but if you want to swap in your gears you will have to use your carrier and everything, the posi form the Z won't work. It's a 2 series carrier and your gears are for a 3 series carrier. Now,you can buy a take-off 3 series posi from SLP and throw that in along with your gears and it should work.Good luck.
