I am trying to replace my dimmer switch on my 1988 IROC convertible but I can seem to get the thing out. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get this out?

 

first disconnect the elect. connector of the multifunction lever, located under the steering wheel. Remove the protective covering from the wire. Grasp the lever firmly, twist and pull(the tang on the lever must align with the socket) the lever straight out. Pull the wire thru.
When you put it back in. Be sure to use a thin wire to pull the wire back thru the steering wheel. Might be a good thing to tie off the wire after you disconnect it with another piece that way you don't have to thread it back thru by hand. you just pull both ways.
