Derale Adjustable Fan Switch (DAFS) - #16759 - Extra info
Hi everyone well its been a pain but a learning experience and a half. The link below is of the fan schematic provided by gmtips with my add-ons
that include additional information which maybe be helpful for people learning electricity or wanting more detail (numbering and coloring is based of 1992 GM repair manual).
PS Thank you gmtips.com those help pages are a God send!
Insights Tips:
1. Relay drawings are always shown in there de-energized states (no power running thru the coils (coil is numbered 86 & 85 - 85 typically always goes to ground)
2. SPST Relay (Single Pole Single Throw) - Where to buy it ($11) - Forget RadioShack they only have a NO (Normally Open) Relay for sale and you will need a NC (Normally Closed) Relay. I had to go to various autobody stores and you will know its the right relay because the gate will be touching 87A. Take a look at the link visually much easier to understand.
3. I used a 35 Amp Toggle Switch $7 (SPDT - Single Pole Double Throw - Also referred to ON-OFF-ON) because I could not find a 30 Amp at any auto parts store.
4. For connections like "Orange to Fan" I used "Tap Splices" with the proper ratings to handle the power. This one for example I used the yellow ones which are for 10-12 gage.
I will try to get some more pics up by the end of this week to show everyone the location of things. If anyone sees anything they would like to comment on let me know (errors or anything of that nature)
thanks
