Question Crack and Pop at High RPM's.

When I took my car out this morning and got it on the road I took it above 3000rpm and the thing started popin at the higher band. I can't figure out what would be causing this. I lowered my fuel pressure to 14psi and I am getting an SES light but I haven't checked for codes yet but I will when I get out of work. Any ideas what this would be? Thanks.

14 psi? Is that a TBI car? (throttle body injection) ..because if you have TPI 14 psi is way too low. I think the 305 TPI motors were set at 39.

Regardless, if your fuel pressure is too low the engine will lean out and detonate.(ping, sputter, cough)

Its for TBI. So 14psi is 4-5psi above stock. But maybe I need my fuel injectors cleaned or something. I will try setting it forward just a little bit and see what happens.

I also have a brand new fuel filter I should install. That might be my problem to, you think?

Hmmm. Could be. I know I need to replace mine. I 'm actually having nearly the same problem right now....but my car was in storage for a year and a half. I think there is still some bad gas in the tank. Time to drive it out.

Maybe back OFF of the fuel pressure a little. MAYBE it's possible that the injectors are locking yup because of too much pressure. Tis possible grasshoppaaah Goodluck!
