coolant overflowing from fill bottle

got home from a normal sunday cruise today and noticed that a good bit of coolant overflowing out of the coolant fill bottle. the cap is on and its letting out the coolant(i know its supposed to do this if it has to), but could this be because there is too much coolant in the system? I did notice it was running a bit on the hot side, but when i picked it up at the dealer, they said they filled the coolant bottle up for me. i never really looked, but it says "full hot" and they filled it i guess cold to that mark. am i hurting anything with too much coolant in there? should i just let it spurt out until its down to a normal level? today was a lot warmer than usual and i've only had the car for about 3 weeks. i alsot noticed that the fill bottle cap doesnt get tight at all. thanks.

well your first most important step, is to make certain anyway you can thats its not overheating. step one. my overflow cap dosent get tight either and some coolant leaks out on bumpy roads. so im thinking maybe if they overfilled it it shot some out. you wont hurt anything bieng overfilled. itll just leak out as it wants to. but just make sure your not overheating.

yeah my 86 did this when the fans weren't working and the car was overheating. so check to make sure like said above it's not overheating, ie fans not kicking on, especially in traffic as you probably know these cars dont like to sit for extended periods of time. so that could have something to do with it. the only problem i saw with the coolant overflowing was it was a PITA. it gets everywhere, doesn't smell great when it's super hot, and basically just sucks.

You sure the head gasket is not blown? What is the color of the oil and the coolant?
