Code 23 with 84 L69
Code 23 with 84 L69
After putting on new plugs, wires, cap/rotor, started my 84 z28 L69 4bbl for the first time in a while and it threw code 23 which is either for throttle position sensor(does a carbed car even have that?) OR low intake temperature at manifold or something. Where is that located? Light then went out after I took the air filter completely off the carb and started it up. Is the plug thats on the front of the carb related to that at all cause i think it was just a bad connection and i may have knocked something loose. What do you guys think? Thanks.
Re: Code 23 with 84 L69
you have an electronic carburator, and it has a few electrical components that send signals to your computer
that carb does have a throttle position sensor, if you look at the linkage there is a lever ontop of the carb near the linkage that moves down as the throttle is opened, it is a plunger that pushes down on the throttle position sensor and the electrical connection that accepts a 3 prong harness is the sensor
the two prong connection is a metering solenoid, used to adjust air fuel ratio slightly to get as close to 14.7 to 1 as possible
and u may have an electrical connection on your bimetal strip for your choke

Yes your carbureted car has a Throttle position sensor and code 23 is Mixture control solenoid which might have a open circuit or short to ground in the mixture solenoid circiut; defective mixture control solenoid; defective ECM - if the mixture control solenoid is shorted to ground, the ECM may have been damaged.
