Post 84' L69 swap into 88' V6 bird

I have an 84' T/A with the L69 190hp HO engine with a 5-speed Borg Warner tranny. It needs a rear end and a full nose assembly. I am picking up an 88' 2.8liter MPFI for a song. The body is in great shape, but the engine needs a head gasket. Could I swap the engine from my 84' into the 88'. Will the engine mounts line up?, will it pass emissions in NY?, what do you think?
Thanks ---Rich

It's way more work than it's worth. You'll need to swap the motor mounts, radiator, front coil springs, all engine accessories, throttle cable, and all clutch master/slave cylinder hardware if the 2.8 is an auto. Unless you want to keep the 1-legger, you're going to need to swap the rear end too. Add to that the 3,000 little things you'll need, and overall I'd say it's not worth it. Since you have a complete car to pull parts from, you're MUCH better off than most that attempt this swap. You should have everything you need to do it, so the only hassles you'll have to deal with will be related to all the crap you've got to swap. For those without a complete V8 car, the parts hunting will be a never ending nightmare.

don't let somebody scare you. its really not that hard but you prolly won't pass emissions, cuz usually the engine has to be the same year or newer than the car it is, and thats just for starters.

if you wanna know more about the swap wmail me at guffer3@mchsil.com and leave me a few more details about the cars, auto or manual etc.....
