Caliper Switch from 1988 to 1982
Caliper Switch from 1988 to 1982
Has anyone successfully switched out the front disk calipers from a 1988 Z-28 to a 1982 Z-28?
Are there any mods that need to be made or is it a simple pull out and install?
Thanks.

Answer
I've found an answer here:
http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...r+switch+front
Apparently, "Front Disc:
All non 1LE front calipers, 84-92 are identical.
Non-1LE front calipers 82-83 were a different thread for the brakelines (SAE instead of metric); this makes the rubber lines non-interchangeable. I don't know if the banjo bolt threadings in the calipers are different are not.
All 1LE calipers are identical.
Rear Discs:
All 89-92 calipers should be interchangeable.
All 84-88 calipers are interchangeable
82-83 calipers are interchangeable.
82-83 are not interchangeable with 84-88 due to the SAE vs. metric fittings problem.
'89-92 read discs will mount on an '82-'88 rear (and vice versa) assuming you swap the backing plates. 9 and 10 bolt backing plates are different. You'll also have to swap hard lines (or fabricate your own) and rubber caliper lines (not the center one)."
Just in case someone does a search for the same thing.
