if its from an 87 model its a 26 spline!

now if you find a rear end from a 91 -92 model rs or z28 you have the 28 spline.

Or if you find a borg warner 9 bolt, it will also be a 28 spline regardless of the year.

Like 88 427 Camaro look for a 9 bolt. I got mine for 150 with older brakes on it. Since then I have totally rebuilt the rear with parts from 88 427 Camaro and the shop said they couldnt believe the high quality parts I got. They were very impressed and they are a professional driveline shop. I also pgraded the old style 88 brakes to 93 Z28 brakes.

I really dont want a 9 bolt, in most cases there usually lower gears than i need. Im looking for 3.42 rear(posi or nonposi) 28 axle. Some turd emailed me asking $800.00. It wasnt a posi and it was drum. I wish i could find a deal like that.

The 4th gen rears bolt right in, but you need to keep in mind they are about 2" wider so your wheels and tires are gonna stick out an inch farther on each side.

But they will still be under your fender, you can increase your backspacing if your ordering new rims, Use 4th gen rim configuration and add 2 more inches of backspacing and throw some 315 or some 325R16/50's or something back there for some real traction..
