A/C removal !! ??
Aahh!. Just took all the pipes out so all thats left is that box with just the ends of two pipes protruding from it. Found some rubber sleeving in the garage to cover and seal the ends of those and thats it. Looks ok.
Pulling off your AC isn't going to gain any horsepower. When the clutch is off it is just an idler pulley, and Freon is cheap (R134a anyways). All you need to convert the sytem is the low side fitting, which is a $5 conversion fitting. And unless your building a drag car out of it 18 pounds isn't that big of a deal.

No you don't have to replace the compressor, who ever told you that is full of ****. All you have to change is adding conversion fitting to use a R134a Manifold Guage Set. It is cheap, I did it to tractors all summer long and have done it to my 90 IROC-Z along with numerous cars at school. In fact on my IROC and the service truck at the John Deere dealership all I did was install a low side conversion fitting and filled it up with Freon. Once again just leave it on the car.

If you take it off all you'll get out of it is the advantage of weight loss. Very minimal power gain. Just look at the big picture. Mine came off with all the emissions stuff when I put ally heads on it. I lost over 70lbs in weight on the front end and gained X amount of power. If you use the car at the strip thats gonna help.
Your entire vent system is based on vacuum. Behind your vent control dial there are 5 or 6 different colored lines and they are vacuum lines. They move your vents....
You'd have to take some of your dash apart to access the lines.
Hope this helps!!
