Post Big Block in 3rd gen?

Is this possible? My friend was kind of thinking out loud and came up with putting a Ram-jet 502 in a 92' RS that he saw for sale at a good price. Can this large a motor fit in the engine bay and can the car be mated to a T56? He nor I know anything about this kind of venture so any info on the possibility of this would be great. Thanks.

Well, you will need to do EXTREME frame reinforcement if you want my opinion. Sub-frame connectors are a must and I'd probably put a roll cage in also. The motor I plan on is just a SBC and the guy who did a lot of my engine work on the most recent motor claimed he did basically what I did but he didn't have subframes or anything and he twisted the car in half. So Big blocks are a pain because of all the other crap you need to do like what I already mentioned and a new rearend like a 9" or a 12 bolt etc. etc... um There is a lot of stuff to do which I believe is pretty well laid out in the link posted by 88 427 Camaro.

You don't "need" a 9" or a 12 bolt but it helps. I was running a beefed up 7.5" 10 bolt last year. I only switched to a 9" because I changed trannys, went to a very high stall converter and installed a transbrake. I didn't think the little 7.5" ring and pinion would have lasted with the new combination.

88 427 Camaro has not returned to this site in more than 9 years. You may want to try an e-mail. Left click on the screen name, and there is a "send an e-mail option" on the dropdown.
