Recently I bought a Autoxray EZ scan and today I had my first chance to use it. Got a weird code and was wondering if anyone has one of these tools and could answer this Question. I started the car,first time this week,ran it for about three minutes,then backed out of the garage,and turned off the car. About 10 minutes later came out to a SES,got the scanner,hooked it up and got a 36 shift fault code. Went to my manual and it says 36 is MAF burn off,anyway after a couple of starts the SES is out the scanner doesn't detect any codes,so suspect the MAF burnoff. Does anyone have any other ideas? It ran ok after so I'm not worried,just curious.

 

I use one all of the time, but have never had that happen. Did you follow the directions for a KOER(Key On Engine Running) test.
If all's ok, don't sweat it, if it comes back tell me...

 

Found a listing of trouble code and #36 listed : shift fault,MAF burn off,and I forgot what the other thing was so it was giving the right code,but now I have to figure out which one. I don't know what would cause a shift fault code,any ideas?
