Post Any recomendations for an intake?

Which intake is the best and for a fairly decent price. Tell me brand, where to get it, and how much it is.

What is your final plan? What are your intentions with the car? How much money do you have to spend (most important)?

I dont' know about him, but I have the same car and was planning on just making it a street ride. I'm planning on keeping it street legal because I want the thing to be a daily driver. Cost is a big deal but if I spend $200 bucks as compared to $400 for actually getting the best intake I'm willing.

My plans for my car are an Intake, MSD ignition, SLP headers, and a Torque Converter. Money is not a really big issue, I'm 16 and do pay for all my own stuff including my car, but I have a pretty good job for a 16 yr old, so money isnt real tight. But I just want to compare the different intakes, and see which one will give me the most bang for the buck. Thanks.

Well, I didn't think you guy's were talking about an intake manifold I thought you were talking about air induction package. Also hey rage you have the 3" flowmaster, is that 3" all the way threw? How much did that cost you and where did you buy it?

You have got to be joking. That is the price with the DFI unit on it. If you bought the TB, Plenum & Runners and Manifold Base it is less than $1500.

From LPE

TB:= $529

Base: $518

And computer, chip, wire harness, injectors, fuel pump, etc. Thats the complete conversion.
Those of use who already have a TPI intake only need the intake, runners, and plenum. The stock TB works fine. And the cost for the intake is about $500, plus $750 for the plenum and runners. No where near $3000.

Actually it is not a computer chip. It comes with a harness for the DFI which is a reprogrammable ECM

Well as for intake manifolds this is how i feel it goes..

Drag Racing (high RPM's-6500rpm) = you want the TPiS Mini-Ram or LT1 intake
Auto-X (low end torque) = Lingenfilter intake

Holley Stealth Ram = this is an inbetweener, it can be used for both i think, i believe it is capable of carrying the rpms up to 5500-6000rpm? while still making lower end torque.. cool, differnt, not many around yet..

Whatz ur pleasure.. for my car my vote is the Mini-Ram, i have been told the lingenfelter is a waste however i see it on some cars and there fast, others are garbage, u wanna tire smoker then ligenfelter is for u, if u wanna racer the Mini-Ram is for u..

OrangeIroc is in the right direction, but if you want something suited for the 1,500-7500 range you will have to go with a trick Accel Intake this intake is used for RV's and Big Block applications but they made a new one for the small blocks. Here are some part numbers 74139 and 74882 with a stock or a 58mm TB and your running strong!!! Check it out go to ACCEL WEBSITE, AND look at their online DFI catalog you will see the parts I am talking about..

I have the LPE Superram and found out years ago that when I put it on (TB, Plenum Runners and Base Manifold) that the power was increased but it was a little sluggish at times. Got headers and it improved but I felt it could do better. Stopped by LPE and he recalibrated the EPROM and it was better than it ever had been.

Friend of mine used the 58mm TB and lost some time in the quarter mile. Moral of the story is that if you don't improve you intake track, whatever you put in front of the weakest link won't help as much.

After the install, if you want to see the full potential, you need to have a recalibrated EPROM which is pretty much expected for any major gains like heads, intakes, cam, headers.

Edit: I think I would prefer the Miniram for Auto cross as if it is a tight course, the tires will spin with too much low end torque. When you get to the wide open places, you can open up.
