Question Aftermarket Fuel Pump

I am thinking of replacing my fuel pump with an aftermarket one. Since I have a 383 and plan to supercharge it after a few more years, does anyone have any suggestions as to the fuel pump I should use. I will be using stock pressure and if needs be, I will use larger injectors and have the pulse width altered so I won't need to mess with the more than stock pressure. Maybe larger volume? What are the problems when replacing the fuel pump?

Also, I never got too clear an answer about whether it would benifit me to change the radiator to an aftermarket one like the BeCool. What I am looking for is to lower operating temps. I have a 160 stat and in the summer, it will run at 190+ with the AC on. I am hoping that I can get it lower if I use a more efficient radiator.

Hey, there is a smokin deal on a brand new holley intank pump that just came up on the for sale section. If I didn't just put in a new pump two days ago, it would be mine. It is a very good deal and it is for a third gen,GRAB IT.

If you don't get in on the Holley pump, you can look at the Walbro 340 which is a 255lph pump. There was a recent GP on them I believe that may still be going. Might wanna check it out. They are one of the best out there.

We'll see. I put dibs on the Holley but if not, I'll go Walbro. Thanx guys. Anyone else feel free to chip in their experience especially related to install. I know you have to drop the rear end but not sure if it will connect up or do you have to fashon brackets or what not for the pump. TIA

no fabing to install the walbro. fyi, the holley is a walbro repackaged. I just put one in a 99 formula thats supercharged and making 482 rear wheel horsepower and it will handle that no prob. (there was some fabing required to install it into the LS1 car though, but it drops right into the 3rd gen.s)

as far as the tank goes, you need to drop the exh. and either remove the rear section, or swing it out of the way. then, take off the lower shock nuts to allow the rear end to lower more. then remove the swaybar end links and the bolt in the center of the tfitting for the brake line to gain enough rear end drop. ofcourse the panhard bar and brace above that have to come out too. you;'ll need to bend the filler neck a little to remove and reinstall it. thats the worst part about the swap. def. make sure the tank is near empty when removing cause it will help alot. see the post about problem droping the tank else where on the board right now cause that mod will make it alot easier to put back in. and it only takes about $15 worth of hose (6" section) and a hack saw to do. I can send you a pick ofthis tomorrow if you like.

Walbro 340M 255LPH!!!

I ordered mine today from Ramchargers by my house for $89!! Normal price is 160+ i think. You CAN NOT beat a price like that! Especially when guys on this board are using the exact same pump to feed 700 to 800 rear wheel horsepower!! It's true!! rkrause has made 730rwhp so far with his combo, some other guy said he has seen 800+ at the wheels with the pump. That's like 1000 flywheel HP!!
