Accel Shorty Header plugs?

I got me some Accel U groove Header plugs for my car. They are not gapped. I know that my car calls for .035 gapping but Im curious as to what I should gap them to. I have heard .035 or .045...whats the difference and with my mods what should I gap them to. Im thinking .045?

Im doing my yearly tune up and getting it ready to get dyno tuned by PCMFORLESS on Friday..

thanks!

Re: Accel Shorty Header plugs?

what MSD ignition mods do you have?

I have an old-style HEI (large cap) with an Accell super coil and 8mm Accell wires with AC Delco plugs gapped to .050. I'm not sure that it is the best, but I'm using that as a starting point (as recommended by my dad, ASE cert. mechanic for 25+ years).

Depending on your ignition mods, I would start with a .045 and see how it does. You can play with the gap a little bit to get the most out of it.

MSD mods? I have the coil, 8.5 wires, cap and rotor. What does gapping it more do? I guess I will gap them at .045

Hey Wish,

You got PLENTY of firepower with that MSD setup, so go ahead and gap them at .045. It should give you a tiny bit more hp and mileage.

.045 is the gapping I'll do. By any chance do you know the heat range of these plugs?
