89 RS Ignition Problems?

Aight my car will start up 2 times in a row....but then on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6,th try to start it nothing happens at all.

The key is the type with the electronic security piece on it. On the black security piece theres a "fin" on each side. One side looks good and the other side isnt as big, like its worn down. Do those "fins" make contact with some metal on the inside to deactivate the security and start the car?

The weird thing is i have a spare key and it does the same starting thing.

Any suggestions?

That's the "PASS-KEY" Antitheft system, if they don't function it won't start at all. Each key has a specific resistor inside that must make contact to complete the starting circuit. Each car is different.

Can you pull one of the spark plugs and see what it looks like??

I'd say it isn't getting enough fuel to the injectors...if the plugs are clean and dry I'd be right. If they're wet and black, it's getting too much fuel..

Has the fuel filter ever been changed??

Can you check fuel presure by installing a gage to the valve on the fuel rail??
