'89 Intake To '88 Block: Questions Arise/56K Beware

Starting with the basic question. Will it work and what glaring differences will I run into? I went ahead with high resolution pics provided to ask the obvious.

I am taking small steps to ensure a trouble free installation with your help.

In the pic below I possess a complete 1989 intake assembly. The 1989 ECM 01227165 is on the table. Does my 1988 IROC Z28 have the same ECM? I have no problems with the original ECM. The '88 came with a 305 LB9 TPI motor.

I am presently cleaning the '89 intake manifold. I want to know the obvious differences I'll run into. I believe the only issue is the 9th Cold Start Injector. Anything else? This pic shows the front views of the '89 intake on the left and my '88 on the right. There is something missing I spotted hence the new thread. I guess I wont be using this electrical port. Need info.

Fuel Rail & Regulator. There is no vacuum tube provision on the '89 fuel pressure regulator.

So point me in the right direction, I need clarification here. I'll install the intake, fuel rail and plenum and hope it will start after priming the fuel pump rail. I think it's too easy with some missing items I guess I won't be dealing with. The '89 fuel pressure regulator looks like its adjustable than the vacuum assisted '88 FPR unit. What else should I be concerned about? ECM swap I figured due to the absence of the 9th injector. I want to install new injectors also. I don't know if I have Multec injectors or not. Whew...

Same ECM different program in the chip. I believe that sensor is for the Cold Start injector. 89 is a good tune keep use that chip. Is the 89 setup from a 305 car?

BTW that is not a factory FPR on the 89 rail. Definately aftermarket.

the 89 AFPR is supposed to have a vac nipple and will work on the 88. it just needs the vac nipple.

Yes the intake setup is from a 305 I believe. Everything else matches like my original intake. So I'm sure it is! ( rolling dice )

I'm concerned that once I install these 1989 injectors, I'll run into a maze of problems without checking to see if I should pressure test them and clean them or just buy new ones and where.

You're right! I checked it out and it is missing a nipple but looking at the photo it seems I may have to get a replacement FPR. Wonder what brand to buy though? The AFPR adjustable screw looks like it has the MacGyver touch. Usually an aftermarket FPR use a small hex wrench from previous observations.

You should reuse your injectors if there isn't anything wrong with them. Check the injectors on the 89 rail they might be to a 350. 350 had bigger injectors.

YOU GUYS ROCK!
Looks like I do have the 350 injectors omg. Far as I know the 305 block wont know correct? I mean these bigger injectors will be squirting inside the 305 bore along with the complete '89 intake. Injector on the right is the 1988 305 setup. I'm learning as we go...

the 350 uses a 22 lb injector and the 305 uses a 19 lb unit. im running a set of the SVO units and they work well, actualy its ben said they work better than the stock multi tech injectrs that came stock.
Rich at cruzin performance can service injectors but usually (IIRC) dosent do the multi tech units.
me personally id go with a new set. FAST has matched sets and are within a reasonable range and i think the SVO's can be had thru summit or jegs.
