87 GTA L-98350tpi 1/4 mile times.
i got told i needed a 292*575lift well can't find a 292*575lift cause the 292 is the advertised duration i need to the accual duration.
is this a marine cam by chance?????? or a custom grind cam???????

ok we've got all planned out now finally in think.
1991 FORMULAGTA:406,10.5:1 piston's,292*cam with 575 lift. 2,800 stall converter,4.11posi. 4x2 intake #350-5425,with 2 670cfm 2bbl TBI unit's adapted. dart 2 head's. 700r4 from a c-3500 built shift kit computer contolled shifting aka shift piont's and shift stiff ness.
then sub frame conector's, traction bar's,295/50D15 Hoosier's on the rear,and 245/60r15 Hoosier's on the front. dual sawy bar's.
4th gen style ram air hood aka ram air2 hood which will go nicely with the 91's corvetteish rounded nose.(which i like over the boxy 87 GTA i got now).
so it will look like a ram air2 vette at first glance.
ok now this what every one of guy's has come up with to make this beast move. now i'm told with a good launch and decent grip it should run 12's???? but i'll exspect 14's so there won't be no let down's of it only run's a mid to low 13.
"shoot high prepare to hit low" is the addvice i got for racing all together. I so liked the help i got from you guy's but i can't find a 292*cam with 575lift.
the "292*cam with 575lift"came recomended by one of you guy's on this site. i wanted a 318*cam or a 328*cam but they said that was too much fora 406 to go with a 292*with a 575lift. so now i'm been looking on and off for this stupid cam.

Your exactly right. I live in Baytown Tx. Those times occured at Houston Raceway Park in last November. And it's a low mileage car, and the transmission was rebuilt w/ no modifications. Well, nothing major, they put a 9 pack clutch kit in..but I dont consider that a mod. It's not TOTALLY stock, exhaust and filter drop it a few tenths...but I am at sea level.

i think it's time to do a 406 swap.
my personal opion i hate 350's i don't trust them new or used. never have never will.
but still when my old 335 can kick it's *** by almost a second. thats bad. it's got 120milion miles on it with out a tune up.
well.......more there's a 120,000 on car tranny reaend. and suposedly only 4,500miles on the engine. now knowing jerry like i know jerry if it is a new engine it never got new plug's wire's cap or rotor. cause he put's in new engines and run's the old tune up parts. so it's either a new engine in dire need of a tune up or it's an old pos 350 on it's way out.
and it's got 235,55r16 cooper cobras tha are new so it ain't a lack of traction thing.
so where to start to try and fix this beast. and rebuild is not an otpion. i don't rebuild 350's i repalce them with 406's.

1.msd coil.
2.accel cap and rotor.
3.mallary 8.5mm wires
4.ac delco rapid fire plug.
5. computer chip.
then if it dose hit low15's high 14's .
6.3.73 gears.
then if it still won't hit low 15's high14's then it gets a nice mild beefy 406 and a commander 950 4 bbl TBI.

Who in the world does a complete motor swap but doesnt perform a tune up? That's retarded.
And what's your deal against 350's?? They're some of the most versatile engines ever designed, parts are cheap, just a really good all around design. God himself had a hand in designing them. I think...I'll have to check back in Genesis

I have a 87 Irocz with a L98 Engine most of it is still org. & most times it does 14.8s down the track but I have gotten it to 14.66 @ 94MPH.
The car is still org. No changes but the steering wheel, We cut out the airbox, put K&Ns in it & but a stage 2 hypertech chip in her. Thats the reason for the faster times.
Must most 87 350 cars were tested at 14.86 @ 93 MPH when they were first bulit. I have rarely seen one on this board or any other one that Matches that or is faster then that that is Totally stock. Most run right about mid to low 15s. Due to the fact that the higher elevations, & weather conditions of the day racing.
now see i got told 15.20's at 91mph.
plue it was done on a not so nice surfuse.
so it's prolly not accurate. but it was abused and not well maintained so i'm going to go threw this car top to bottum.
cause i shouldn't lose to my old 335tpi z-28.
