my stock 87 GTA with L-98 350tpi 700r4 3.23gears.
ran a 16.24@86.6mphstock air box.
ran a 16.11@88.8mph with cone filter maf sencore deleted.
so i think a good tune up and 3.73 gears should give me about what i want for my daily beat around summer racer.

Just remenber the GTA is one of the heavest 3rd gen cars (it is not a light weight drag car). Even with what you mentioned it is a low15 sec car at best.

Note: If you removed your Maf, no wonder its that SLOW.

My best time was 14.66 @ 94MPH
my car was almost totally stock all but a hypertech power stage 2 chip, Airbox cut, & K&Ns.
I have yet to break in to that again this year due to the fact all the times we go racing something is wrong with the car or its over 90 Degrees at the track.
Oh Duh forgot to say that the car is a 87 Irocz w/ 350(L98) with 3.27BW.

Those are LG4 numbers. I would work on the tuning and forget the gears. If you really want something that'll wake up the car, get a converter. Probably need Nittos but that should drop up to .5 sec with that mod. And still get the economy of what you have now. Nothing wrong with the 3.23 gears in there now, its a low revver anyway. Why run it out of breath?

3.73 gears are wayyyy to much for a tpi car...no matter who tells you different..
TPI peaks hp at 4,400 and torque at 3,200...so why get gears that will put way over your power band?
TPI falls over itself about 4,500 and 373's i gaurantee you that you wont fall under 4,500 for very long..youll shift and the rpms will be 4,200 or so...with the 3.23's youll shift adn be 3,600
theres areason why g92 l98 cars had 3.23 gears...they run 14.2's
and the g92 lb9 t-5 cars had 3.42..again running basement 14's mine ran a 14.1

it's all of the line run's any way i'd put the .373's in and re set it to shift from 1ta 2 @4,500 then 2 ta 3 @ 4,300. which is better then it's shifting now from 1 ta 2 at 5,000 amd 2 ta 3 @?????????? cause it want shift tel you let off a bit .
so i make it shift from 1ta2 at 4,700 and 2 ta 3 at 4,30.
i've had 2 91's with 3.73's.a 91 with a 305tbi that had 2.73's i put 3.73's in it and i could walk iroc's and GTA's with 350tpi's untill 92mph.sold that car and got a 91"FORMULAGTA"suposedly . it a dual TBI set up on a ostyle LT-1 updated with center bolts it had 3.73's ran 2 summer's undeafted.spun a rod bearing so i parked it a year, and i am now building a 406 for it with 4.11 gear's. BUT I'M UPDATING TO THE 670CFM 2BBL TBI'Sso on the scoop of the 4thgen style ram air2 hood it will read 6.6L dual duece injection. but anyway that a totally different car.
so if changing gears greatly help's TBI engine's and it even seem's to help out carb car as well. why would it not work ith TPI engine's.??????????????????
