Lightbulb 84 Z28 Torque Arm Bushing Mount

I am replacing the stock rubber torque arm bushing with a polyurethane one. Am having trouble getting the original mount out of the car. Removed 3 of the 4 bolts but the 4th one is welded to the bracket and doesn't clear the tranny tail shaft housing before hitting the tunnel. I've dropped the tranny cross member and pulled the feul lines down but it still doesn't clear the tunnel. Anyone have any ideas??? Is there something else that I'm missing??? I want to believe that I'm smarter than the bracket - but am having my doubts.

you will need to pull down on the trans in order to get it out. may need to remove the distributor cap so the motor will tilt more. a little advice. to make the new bushing easier to install, grind the top and bottom off some so the bracket will slide on easier.

Thumbs up

Thanks, it worked and I also cut off almost 1/2 inch of the welded bolt that should make it easier to do next time. I appreciate the help.
