305 Tpi

I have a 91Z28 with TPI...it`s a 305 and my first question is....should i drop a 350 in it? i keep hearing that a 350 LS1 is the motor to go to if you want real speed....i drive on the highway daily so i want something that cranks up and runs STRONG if i need a real passing gear.....also, should i change my existing tranny?...thanks for any response...remember, this is my daily driver but it is extremely clean....i`m not building a track type of car....i`m staying with an automatic

LS1's are nice but alot of work and money. (have to change tranny) You can change it to a 350 TPI (L98) in about a day, and for about $1,500

Re: 305 Tpi

The L98 (small block 350 TPI) is a direct swap for your 305. You could realistically swap only the short block plus heads and use your existing intake, exhaust etc. The computer and injectors are slightly different but will still work fine... not optimal without a custom tune, but it will react much like any other mod. You will eventually need to upgrade the injectors and retune the PROM anyway.

I took out the 305 TPI (LB9) and put in the Complete 350 TPI (L98) and only had to change the computer box. Wiring was all the same.
