1. does anyone know where the VATS module is located in a third gen.
2. I'm having trouble splicing two wiring harnesses together(the guy cut it where it goes in the driverside firewall, car was origionaly a v6 and I have the v8 part from the computer to the place it enters the firewall on drivers side...and from a 88 camaro-to- a v8 firebird wire colors changed) and I'm not getting the fuel pump to come on.....does anyone know where the wire that comes straight from the fuel pump is located, is it under the car??I think I'll have to just hard wire it to start it up,....untill I can figure it out.

dunno if you found yuor answers yet but the VATS module is behind the HVAC controls on the firewall.
and as for the other wires, im willin to bet your gonna have a few good problems beign there wee "some" differnces between the 2 cars. the fuel pump harness runs under the carpet and comes out right behind the back seat area.
as for where that goes i havent scearched that too far. i sugguest you find a friend thats good with electrical stuff, get a multi meter, and a chilton or HELM manual (not a hayes, there junk) an trace the stuff down. then again ya might wanna call painless and see what they have to offer. time vs money, it might be easier to go the painless route.

There is a 20a inline fuse tied directly to the battery+ cable which powers:
- The ECM-Internal Power Regulator
- The Oil Pressure/Fuel Pump Switch
- The Fuel Pump Relay (controlled by ECM) which in parallel with the Fuel Pump Switch control power to:
- The MAF Relay
- The Fuel Pump
- The ECM-FP Control
When the FP Relay is de-energized it switches the Fuel Pump connection from the 20a Inline Fuse feed to the ALDL's Diagnostic Connector G-terminal.
If you don't have power to the Fuel Pump, the MAF relay will be dead as well.
With the ignition off you can apply 12v to the G-terminal to test the fuel pump. If this doesn't work then there's no connection from the FP Relay to the Fuel Pump; on my '88 the Fuel Pump 12v wire is tan/white - same for items a, b, and the output side of item 2.
