Valvespring recommendation?
Valvespring recommendation?
Hey I am looking for a valve spring recommendation. Heads are 235cc Pro Topline Aluminum cnc heads with 1.55 spring pockets. I will be running a custom ground billet roller camshaft that I bought off ebay, specs are 262/266@.050, .665/.625, 106*LSA. I am trying to find a valve spring that would work for my setup. I do a little bit of street driving, mostly drag though. Trying to do this on a budget.
Thanks!
Thanks!
the cam manufacturer should supply you with a spring to use... otherwise if your rate or open or closed pressure is too far off you're going to float em,
it's dependent on cam and it's profile, like aggressive means higher pressure, but too high and you'll wipe it... there's no real way to tell what springs to use without the profile, and you shouldnt have to

Odd place to look for that info!
Try Yellowbullet.com in the camshaft forum, Cam Master Jay would know as well as many other racers. They run some serious hardware over there. Goodluck! Is this going on the 350 crate? That's a lotta head! 8500rpm?

lol well kind of, I bought my crate engine brand new when I was in high school so there is a lot of sentimental value which is why I reused the 1 piece rms block
. Engine is:
377 (4.00x3.75)
12:1 compression
Forged pistons, forged rods, Eagle ESP crank
Solid Roller as described
Pro Action 235cc cnc heads w/ 2.08 1.6 valves
Hooker 1 7/8" headers w/ 3.5" collectors
Single Plane Intake w/ 1050 Dominator
Turbo 350, 4200 converter
I am hoping to turn 7000 or so, I am pretty excited to finally get it together though. I am trying to build a fast drag radial car, shooting for low 11's or high 10's.
Since this cam is a billet roller, I was thinking there would be less change of losing a lobe and more likely to break a lifter or something. I have nice Crane roller lifters so not too worried there. I looked on Comp's website and found a camshaft with nearly identical lift, @.050, LSA and advertised duration. I was thinking of running them, they ar ethe comp 943-16 Valve springs.
What do you guys think?

Manley Performance has several valve springs that will work for you.

Take a look at the 22441-16 on page 16 of that document.
