1 piece vs. 2 piece rear main seal

I am trying to install an M5 into what was an A4 car. The flywheel that I got with the tranny to do the swap with has a smaller bolt pattern than the flexplate that I just removed. The flywheel has a GM1 in raised lettering in the steel. I'm trying to find a flywheel that will work. Is the one that I have a 1 piece seal flywheel and I'm trying to install it into a 2 piece main seal block? The engine is a crate 350 from GM about 3 years old. Any assistance in finding the proper part is appreciated.
Thanks for any assistance.

You cant install a 1 piece flywheel into a two. Your best bet is to call the dealership...get a part number, then order from gmpartsdirect.com

yeah if he wants to spend 3 times what he should be able to get one for. Check ebay and check thirdgen.org classifieds.

That's what I'm trying to find out, do I have a 1 piece seal flywheel and that is why it is not working? If I order a flywheel for a SBC from earlier than '86 I'll be fine?
Thanks.

Speaking from experience..from one who has depended on Ebay for the right parts.....Dont kid yourself....those sellers just want to get rid of their product....asking someone who knows like GM is a better guarantee your gonna get the right part. GM online believe or not is way cheaper than the dealership!!!

I had the same problem when I did my T5 swap. It was out of an '84 and I put it in an '88 so I needed a different flywheel. It was a huge pain in the *** to find one. Advance auto wanted $280 and I couldn't find one used. I wish you luck my friend!

It looks like it is a 10.5 inch clutch. I figured out that it is a 2 peice motor. I ordered and got a flywheel that matches up.
Thanks for all the help.
