Interesting. Once the computer tuners get a good handle on these cars, I wonder if they'll be able to disable it completely? When I first started competitively racing my 99 Cobra, I would occasionally forget to turn off the Traction Control (one push of a button on the center console). This would absolutely RUIN a burnout (duh), and mess up my routine and the run. After this happened a couple of times, I made myself a sign that I put in front of the button that said "Turn off TC!" so that it wouldn't happen again, and eventually had the computer changed so that the TC defaulted to off.

But I'm still a rookie and need lessons, please.

I have to assume that any good tuner can make the system default to off. For your daily driver that would not be wise, but if you just race your car I can see justification. These pereli tires are just too darn expensive for me to remember to turn the TC on. The tires on this thing are so good you almost don't need TC unless you are power-stalling or its really cold outside. I'm pushing WELL over 400HP with the mods I have done and I have to stand on the brake to get them to light up, that is with everything turned off.

I wonder if a tuner can change the RPM that the Performance Mode limits the RPM?

I wonder if this program could be implemented to work with an auto that has a loose converter?

Im not sure why all the sarcasm is about. Since he is a seasoned drag racer I guess he doesnt need to learn to drive. A seasoned drag racer probably doesnt care to much about a launch control anyway. I dont know if you guys are actually getting your panties in a wad or what lol. He got his answer from his question, seeing as a doubt GM is going to allow a setting for slicks on their launch control.

 

Stock, a 2010 Camaro puts down ~360hp to the wheels. You have a catback and a tune and you think that gets you well over 40 additional horsepower?

 

I should have clarified it should be over 400 at the crank, I'm guessing 440-450 with the tune and exhaust. I guess that does not matter since most people are concerned with what is at the wheels. The car is going to the dyno in a couple weeks and I will post the results then.

 

Does this void your warranty?

A co-worker of mine just got his 2SS and read about the launch option in the manual. It says to refer to the warranty paperwork somewhere in there. In the warranty paperwork it said using the launch option voids your warranty. Now, I did not read this myself. This is second hand info and I'm curious what you all have seen on it.
