you better be ready for the Camaro to be at least close to this weight. Im sure DCX wasnt trying to build a heavy car.

Either way... I am using average numbers...just to make my point. Somebody said a SRT will run mid 12's ?!?!?

Bigbluecruiser still thinks a 425hp SRT-8 can out run a 400hp C6 with 700 lbs weight difference....

maybe i need to go to the track and see one run? I haven't seen a C6 run at the track yet either?

Hey the GN smoked the vette in the 80's with less power and more weight??

Scott (Fbodfather) has basically said we should be prepared that this car will weigh more than the previous generations. It's not by choice, but due to A) the design of the car (in particular, IRS) and B) higher crash test standards, which require the car to be more stucturally sound. Without adding the expense of "exotic materials" (such as hydro-formed aluminum frame-rails like the Corvette's) it means "beefing up" the more affordable Camaro to meet the safety standards . It's a harsh reality I guess?

If the car isnt quite as big as a mustang then why would you guys think it will weigh 3700-3800?

Maybe with all the options and plushness but hell some of us dont race yachts.

Well its a tend today and cars are as heavy as they have ever been. We all want soo much stuff on them and all of the crash testing and emissions equipment. I mean even the materials used in the construction of cars today has to be better and usually heavier. My fulled loaded 2002 Z28 with gas weighed 3450 w/o driver. I think the only way to lower curb weight these days is by using expensive materials. Even the 2006 Z06 is heavier only by a 30lbs or so than the 2004 Z06. Its hard today to get lower weight and I think its a real shame but a certain reality.

I just hope there's a more bare bones model available. Maybe not model but trim.

I now have my 2nd Z28 and this one has all the options except CD changer which couldve been removed since '99.

I love my bare bones '97 just as much. The thing I love more is the weight of the '97. Its 3460 with my ~170lbs self in it. Id think a safer, IRS 5th gen might go 3600 with me in it and in a more bare option list but thats okay. Maybe only a low production, "top dog" Camaro will have the IRS.

Who knows.... just build it!!!

Judging by CTS weight impact standards and the comperable weight of, Charger is to Challenger, what CTS is to Camaro. Challenger is NO land Yacht...

well, we know the Challenger is on the same platform as the Charger only on a shortened wheelbase..

we also know that the Camaro concept was on a whole new platform.. sure it had some design elements from Sigma which underpins the CTS.. but it also had a lot of design and engineering from Holden..

also, the CTS is a luxury car, coming with more sound insulation and power options, and therefore weighing more than a Charger which does not come with as many options and therefore costs less, yet still weighs more than the CTS

Maybe DC and their customers don't care about weight since their horses are bigger.
that's a very good joke , this was from a 300c forum:

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...ack-times.html

GSM SuperCharged SRT8 Track Times

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We went out to California Speedway today and we brought all three GSM SRT8's
it was suppose to be mid temps in the 60's but soon warmed up to low 80's.

This track is at a correctable altitude which would make the numbers even better but the Times and MPH straight up are impressive and when you compare them to the stock SRT 8 Charger you can see the gains of nearly 1.5 seconds and over 10 mph in the quater mile.

The SRT8 300 on the first run pulled a 1.65 60' which was impressive on the stock goodyear f-1's, the magnum we ran drag radial's for the first run and the 4 season Goodyear RSA's on the second run with 22 psi

all 3 SRT's were run with over 1/2 tank of fuel, which we could have netted probally a 1/10th better if we would have had more time to prepare, anyway we will be at the track again on 12/3 for some better times.

300c SRT8, Magnum SRT8 and the Charger SRT8

The 300 and the Magnum are both Supercharged and the Charger we wanted to runs stock for comparsion.

The Super Charged SRT Magnum ran a best of 12.17 @113.96 we did a little adjustment and the second run was 12.23 @ 117.14

The Super Charged SRT 300 ran 12.40 at 114 and a 12.35 @ 115

The Stock SRT 8 Charger ran 13.62 @ 104.19 and a 13.77 @ 104.12

See attached Time Slips for the SRT8 Magnum #307

That & rde & comfort is what's "in" hence why the mega HP in all these new cars to push them along.

The Mustang already weighs in near 4K & I believe the & new Camaro, which is many years away will also weigh in at approximately the same.
