NEWS: Chevy expects over half of all Camaro ZL1 models to be automatic
Re: NEWS: Chevy expects over half of all Camaro ZL1 models to be automatic
To me it's just another way to feel connected to your car. The only reason I'm opposed to so many cars in America being automatics is that I think driving stick is a skill that's disappearing, and it's just kind of sad in some ways, especially when you consider how bad driver training in America is. In Germany you get a license for knowing how to drive. In America you get a license for knowing how to parallel park.

Heck anytime I take my Cobalt in for service(which is about every month) I get dirty looks and questions about my driving habits. Like that has anything to do with the steering failing recall, ignition locking up, power windows not working, rear brakes dragging, etc... I'd hate to see the interogations on a ZL1!

Ok. FR500...
"The Ford Racing Mustang FR500 is a highly tuned race variant of the Ford Mustang, featuring V8 engine. These are turn key race cars not designed for public road use. Each FR500 model is built with a unique Ford Racing number, and not a DOT VIN. Each is built when ordered through Ford Racing. Each FR500 is built by the same plant, in Flat Rock (Michigan), as the standard Mustang."

So anyway, I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned the manual trans car now comes with launch control and the car will also have performance traction management (PTM) as well.
Seems like if the launch control works as claimed it should somewhat equalize things on the street from a stop when compared with the automatic (assuming both cars are stock).

With the new MRC suspension I wonder if the computer will allow the rear suspension to be looser/compress more as part of the launch process?

Not to revive the stick vs. auto debate (I'm a stick guy for the record, but I couldn't care less what you drive
) But I came across this interesting survey regarding those who can and can not drive stick, which of course is different than "prefer or prefer not to drive stick". Enjoy

*SIGH* and not to revive the whole warranty/Ford FR500 issue, etc...but for those who are interested...
Chevy Camaro to get Ford Mustang Cobra Jet competitor?

Keeping things relevant, I wonder if it will have an automatic?

Re: NEWS: Chevy expects over half of all Camaro ZL1 models to be automatic
While personally not my preferance after my last auto Camaro wasn't as fun to drive as the manual I do think it's smart on GM's part to offer the ZL1 with an auto. Not to mention since the ZL1 is going to use the CTS-V engine and trans it's a futher no brainer.

or do you just like to watch people at the park?

Re: NEWS: Chevy expects over half of all Camaro ZL1 models to be automatic
I sorta jump back and forth between both sides. Then again, I don't think Mini owners are quite in the same group with Camaro owners.
BTW...most of the cars I had in the past were manual.
