Commodore is about 3900, if I remember right. It seems like they could save more than a hundred pounds, what with Camaro being somewhat smaller and all.

What it ends up actually weighing - I don't know. But that is NOT it's target weight.

3500 is in the ballpark of the 05+ GT, which I guess is the new standard.

I hope the SS will be the top dog and get the LS3 and the LS7 or whatever it will be and the Z28 to get the 5.7. Because if you remeber the first gen had the SS350 and the SS396. I hope to get a RS/SS LS3 fully loaded coupe for 34,000 and lower.

So you're saying that the Z/28 should be the SS350? BTW, GM doesn't make a 5.7.

Where (or from whom?) did you hear that?? We might have to "live with" ~3800 lbs, but I don't know when that was ever their target?!?!

No one at GM has hinted at the target weight publicly yet. This is all pure speculation.

didnt the 2005 silverados have a 5.7 in them. All that i am saying is that the Z28 has been the base model V8 for long as i can remember and the SS has been the top dog. 1st gen z28 302 , SS 350,SS 396,.

no they didnt, the closest they had was a 5.3 or 6.0 motor. And the first gen and even later camaro z28s where far from "base model v8's". The 1st gen z28, which was essentially a race car for the street, could rape a ss350, and come close to a ss396, while raping it around a road course. The ss camaro was dropped for a long time and wasnt even brought back untill 1996 where it was what (imo) the z28 should have actually been...
But back to the thread...
