The rumor on the new base Vette is to be around 435-450 fwhp. LS3.
If they use this as the top model engine, and keep the weight down to 3500ish, then the top Camaro would be able to handle the GT500 stock for stock.
The LS3 has been confirmed for 2008 Vette, and the other posts seems to suggest the 5th Gen will not be bloated like the Ford.
Combine this with Lutz' statement that he isn't worried about the GT500, then I'd say that the LS3 sitting in a 3500 pound Camaro is a very high likelihood.
