The Camaro owes it existance to the Mustang, and if it makes a triumphant return, that hasn't changed. I don't look for the Mustang to ever go away.

I have been seeing these types of threads all over the place, and I find them very humorous. People are showing pics of the GT500 (out in a few months), the Challenger (concept car), and the Camaro (concept car), and asking which one people like best. Maybe its just me, but that just strikes me as kinda dumb. Now, if they were showing the Challenger, Camaro, and a 2010 Mustang concept, then I could understand. There are alot of liberties that manufacturers can take on concept cars, that they can't get away with on production cars.
"If" the Challenger and Camaro come out as shown, then we should have some great choices around 2008/9. Until then, and until we know what we will have to compare to, lets just enjoy the excitement of the moment. It sure is nice to see GM actually using the Camaro name again.
Re: Good Bye!
It looks like a modernized '69 to me...I personally would raise the roof 1-2 inches, and I think it would look even better. Will I buy it, if and when it goes on sale? Probably. It took a few real life contacts with the 4th gen before I warmed up to it. I remember seeing the 4th gen Camaro at the LA Auto show before its intro for sale, and thinking the 4th gen 'Bird looked better. Now, after the 1st gens, its my favorite. Thng looks like an F16. As for the Mustang, it is the reason for the Camaros existance, then and hopefully now. I hope to hell to see the Camaro and the Challeger go into production. This is a new era in American Muscle, and this time around (I was a kid in the 60s-70's) I want to experience it first hand.

The Mustang is successful because it is properly branded ... people who don't know that there is a Detroit car show can recognize the Mustang as a new Mustang the first time they see it on on the street.
But this new Camaro doesn't differintiate itself from the pack .. Challenger/Crossfire/Cadillac. Joe public isn't going to know what it is unless you tell him. And if you have to tell him, his reaction is "meh".
