Why??? ...This is a nice car, but there is nothing distinctive about it. People buy a Mustang because it is readly recognizible as a Mustang - to everyone.

This new Camaro is enough like every other car on the road, if you hadn't been told before hand it is a Camaro, you wouldn't know what it is.

I'm no Camaro fanboy by a long shot but care to tell me what cars on the road look like that?

Only to one who has never picked up a hot rod magazine or bought any car magazine selling tires, or received schedules for race tracks. Thats because companies use the 69 to sell tires, to get you to come to their races, and magazines certainly know what it is. The people at Ebay certainly know what it is because it commands more money than any other year as it is 69 is the most sought after Camaro. If youre a Camaro fan and you dont recognize the 69 Grille and shark gills somethings wrong.

Thats why the 69 camaro is the most sought after muscle car, why it is the first musclecar to be reproduced and remanufactured FROM SCRATCH> it might also be why many people consider it to be the Pinnacle of Muscle Car design (Chip Foose anyone). For those reasons no one will know what it is.

BS! I don't know about the general public (maybe you're right there, but then again the general public is pretty stupid), but I would peg this as a Camaro from 50 yards away given a clear front 3/4 shot.

It SCREAMS Camaro to me, but then again the fourthgen is not the only thing I think of when I think Camaro unlike alot of younger Camaro guys... If fourthgen is what your minds eye thinks of as the quintisential (sp) Camaro then this wouldn't immediately leap out as a Camaro. But to me, I think primarily first and third generation with some fourthgen thrown in when I think "Camaro". Other than not having much in the way of fourthgen cues, that is exactly what this new Camaro is...

I wouldn't go that far, especially for a car that hasn't even been given the go-ahead yet.

Bob Lutz's blog:
"Make no mistake: We would love to build this car. I would love to have one in my garage. But we cannot commit to it just yet. Circumstances dictate that we have other priorities that come first. For now, we’ll just enjoy what we have, and find out what everybody thinks about it, and we’ll make a final decision on it at our earliest opportunity."

Re: Good Bye!

The Mustang will have plenty of sales either way, and you can bet that the Shelby will get a power bump if a Camaro challenger comes to the plate packing more HP.
