Status update - 2-24-07
  • I talked about this project a little bit in CamaroZ28.Com Podcast #77 if you haven't listened already.
  • The final car design is done. I didn't make it all wild and crazy, but it isn't plain either. I think just about everyone will like it. I hired Steven Whitaker to make 3D renderings of the car's design, which will be used in the packaging. He is the same talent behind my Bring on the Storm commercial. You all will definitely see the rendering in the near future.
  • I am spending all of this weekend completing the entire package design. The final version will have 3-D clamshell packaging exactly like what you find on the regular production run cars in the stores. If you haven't seen them in person, I am referring to the packaging like what is shown here. See that artist sketch in the middle? It is hard to tell in that picture, but that is a trading card. Of course, ours will have a trading card, too! See the paragraph above for what will be on it. You may want to prepare yourself to buy two, one to open and one to display.
  • As far as the pre-order page, it will most likely be on a weekend and could be as soon as the first weekend in March 2007 (next weekend!) but possibly the next after that. Nobody needs to worry, I will make a post here in this thread at least a couple of days in advance giving everyone a head's up. At that time, I will close this thread and create a new one.

So there ya have it for now. I gotta get back to work on the packaging, but if anyone has any questions, post 'em up!

BTW...I changed the thread title to be a bit more accurate, in case anyone got confused.

Well, it took quite a while to set things up but I am pretty happy with how things are turning out.

Well the first thingthat popped in my head for the accents..

I first thought of the little accent stripes on the camarols that went across the hood and down the sides. Some variation of this?

and then thinking maybee thinking to much and went with the rally stripes down the whole car but with the 35th design of a checkerboard patter on them. But I think thats too much so I am sticking with the tradition idea. the hockey style stripes.

Two for me, please. One to keep and one to play with. I'll probably zoom it around on my desk and make engine noises with my throat until the mileage warranty runs out.

I'm not up on my 1st gen Camaro paint jobs - but is there an "official" name for that stripe? I LOVE it and would love to see a chop of the 5th gen with that......I might take that over the stripes on the 'vert!

Nope, sorry...you were closer with something else.

Come on, guys...some of you should know me well enough that I keep things clean, traditional, and subtle. The car won't be anything groundbreaking, but like I said, I think everyone will like it.

You guys will be able to order as many as you want when the time comes.

I closed the poll because it was originally created to gauge interest to determine if I should take this project on. Since the status has changed and I made the investment to initiate things, the poll served its purpose.
