CamaroZ28.Com Custom Camaro Concept die-cast...IS..A..GO!
(*EDIT 2-11-07 - This is a GO! See post 206 in this thread!)
This is all just hypothetical at this point, but very possible. We are making this thread to guage reaction to see if it can actually be done.
I think everyone here has read the other thread about the availability of 1/64 Camaro Concept die-cast cars. The supply of the member who was posting disappeared quickly with everyone calling dibs, leaving people who still wanted some on a backup list. Well, we have quietly been working on something in the background that might spark some interest...
We have been speaking with the manufacturer who coincidentally contacted us recently about something that we have been wanting to do for years, and we want to know what you all think.
WHAT IF...we had a small run of special limited edition CamaroZ28.Com versions of the Camaro Concept die-cast made? If we did, here would be some proposed details...
- Strictly limited to 1,500 pieces* (or less)
- Each one individually serial numbered
- 100 would be signed by myself and Chris Frezza and possibly Scott Settlemire*
- Special CamaroZ28.Com graphics, text, etc. on both sides of the backer board
- Special "CZ28" license plate on the cars themselves
- Officially Licensed by GM!
How cool would that be? The #1 Camaro enthusiast site making a kick-*** and highly limited collectible of the Camaro Concept that is kicking *** at all the automaker shows, possibly commemorating the site's 10th anniversary!
If we did this, we would have to start by taking pre-orders to get things lined up. The delivery would be expected sometime this summer when the production run ends. Payment would be via PayPal and possibly Credit Card online, Money Order could also be a possiblity.
We are expecting to keep the cost of each car to around $10 plus shipping, and and we would ship them Priority USPS.
We were sent a sample car (a '71 Camaro) and we are very impressed with the quality and proportions for a 1/64 car. This company seems to know what they are doing, and I was a die-cast collector for years and I know a quality car when I see one. I feel comfortable in assuming that their Camaro Concept would be of the same quality be decent as well.
SO! Having said all that about this hypothetical situation, would you buy one? More than one? Vote in the poll and then let us know your additional thoughts!
(I already asked about other sizes like 1/18 scale and 1/24 , and that has NOT been planned yet.)

I would for sure buy one. Actually, I'd buy two. Would there be a red and a silver one offered, like the two concepts?

One for me for my Camaro diecast collection and one for either my son or my brother. (Let them fight over it.)
