...Is that supposed to be a let-down??

Don't quite understand the concern that there will be "too many" Camaros on the road. The more they sell, the less likely the Camaro will be killed off again.

Really guys....would you rather have the alternative?

I think you'll have it at this time next year.

I also think you made a mistake by giving the dealer your money before Camaros are even being built, and before you know exactly what you're ordering.

If you're 4th in line, that probably means you get the 4th Camaro that your dealer receives from GM. How do you know if it will be the car you want?

Did you specify any details of the car at the time of deposit? Are you getting a V8? Will it be the L76 or the LS3? Or are you getting stuck with a V6? What color will it be? What if you don't like the options? What if you just can't get comfortable sitting in the driver's seat?

I'm not getting a 5th gen until it gets to the point where I can walk into a dealership, sit in one, test drive a couple, and then go sit down and order one spec'ed out exactly how I want it, and pay no more than MSRP. The dealer also won't see a single cent of my money until I've driven the car I'll be taking home.

Don't you think the dealer is going to want a deposit when you order the car?

I think it's going to be a while before dealers actually have a car available for a test drive because whatever cars they have will be gone quickly if not sold before they even get there. The dealer I talked to isn't taking deposits until pricing and model info is released. They put me on a list of people to call as soon as orders can be placed.

I suppose I would consider a deposit of $100 or less, but only if none of the Chevy dealers in my area were willing to order a car without one.

It's not like they wouldn't be able to sell it to someone else.

I'm sure you're right. That just means that I won't be buying one of the first cars. I have other financial obligations to address in that timeframe anyway.
