Camaro on time to be in Showrooms this time next year.

Nothing new here just a confirmed update.

I got to see Scott Settlmire today and he stated to the crowd that the Camaro will be in showrooms this time next year.

I know this is nothing new but it tell us they are still on time at this point for a on time release.

Also you might want to note the now being released info on the G8. they have given times of 0-60 of 5.3, 1/4 mile times of 13.7 and Approx 109 feet for 60-0.

This is on a car larger car at 4,000 pounds and only 362 HP.

Also they all have been impressed with the handling of the G8 and some have declaired it the best Pontiac since the GTO. They seem to thing it is a division changer.

Now what does this mean to the Camaro? it means the Camaro will only be better in all areas of performance. So don't be suprised with a car that many surpass anything you may be expecting.

I find that to be extremely encouraging!! Where'd you get to see Scott this morning?? Thanks for sharing that info! And even though we had an idea that the Camaro would be on showroom floors by next February..it's ALWAYS great to hear it coming straight from Scott!! I think that everyone can agree with that! Just stop and think about these things...we are less than a year from our new Camaros!

Just the thought that next year at this time I will be sitting in one and placing my order. I will have a countdown to Camaro on my calendar.

I can't wait!!!!!!

I know this has been said before, but I wish I could just configure my new Camaro online down to the last detail, place my order, and then pick it up when it's ready. Almost like buying a DELL computer.

I am NOT looking forward to talking to some snake-in-the-grass salesman who will take advantage of me the moment I let my guard down. They play the game on a daily basis. I do it once every few years. I get a headache just thinking about it.

He was at the Cleveland show and we were there for the intro of the new Corvette 427 Z06 special edition. They also has the ZR-1 and one of movie driveable Bumble Bee there.

First off the sky is not going to fall.

And the G8 has enough years to help Pontiac that it would need replaced by the time the regs kick in.

The sky has fallen 5-6 times since 1970 on the performance cars and we are still here.

Thank you sir. Nice to see another realist.

I really am begining to think that some people will actually go jump off a cliff or will shoot themselves in the head when CAFE goes into effect. The rest of us will end up driving RWD Z28s that are lighter, handle better, and get better fuel economy.

Albeit a little more expensive....but, not THAT big a deal! Thanks for the info, Hyperv6. Always nice to have a little 'update' now and again.

Why should we expect anything less.

Knowledge is poweful and lack of knowledge is dangerous.

Tom Wallace from the Vette Team has already said they are looking into a Vette the will be smaller, lighter, and have a smaller displacment engine. He quoted a 4.7. This would just make the Vette into the kind of car it really has needed to be...under 3000 pounds.

A 2800 pound Vette would be killer.

WIth the present cars over 600 HP and closing in on 700 HP they are at the limit of usable power for the road.

Who cares if a car goes 250 MPH as most race cars won't.

The future lies with 0-100-0. The one who can start and stop the fastest is king. Also this will improve handling as brakes will be better performing as the car will be lighter.

Imagine ZR-1 brakes on a sub 3000 pound car.

Lotus has shown the path of the performance future now GM just has to make it durable as that has never been a Lotus strong suit.

The fifth gen Camaro will be the last of the big ones. With cars, trucks and SUVs all being clumped together for CAFE, auto manufacturers lineups are going to change drastically.

And I'm not so sure that is a bad thing as long as it does not end up costing the consumers an arm and a leg. I think there would be a lot of benefits to somewhat smaller and very much lighter vehicles, though I surely don't want to see things downsized to "sub compact" sizes.
